Ferries

The ferry journey between the North and South Islands has to be one of the most beautiful in the world.
These ferries cross the Cook Strait several times daily, taking passengers between Picton and Wellington. The journey takes around 3 hours and is a brilliant experience in itself, the 1 hour approach to Picton through the Marlborough sounds is particularly stunning! Pre-booking is recommended, especially in the busy months of December and January.
